So, I really didn’t want to post this because I didn’t want these girls to get even more attention than they are already getting but it was so disturbing and sickening that I had to say something. I really felt sick to my stomach when I watched parts of the video and they said that was mild compared to what else happened. I don’t really have much to say other than these girls are sick, disturbed and need to be locked up for what they did. It makes me the most mad that they laughed while they were in jail and are not taking this seriously. It really scares me how myspace, facebook, etc are really blowing things out of proportion. Just by one comment this girl gets beat unconscious, I can’t believe someone in their right mind would do this and not think twice. Ugh..I’m just completely disgusted.
So today, I finally broke 134 and when I weighed myself this morning I was at 133.8. It really made my week because I’ve been trying so hard to get lower than 134. It was like I was stuck and I even ate pizza yesterday for lunch and didn’t exercise. Weight is really weird like that. I was so worried I would be back up to 137 today because of that. My real problem is my love handles. I don’t mind a little pudge in the front but the extra fat on my hips is what really bugs me. That is what really shows when I wear jeans and tighter shirts or bikinis. I pulled out an article from a magazine quite a few months ago that had exercises for getting rid of it but they are strengthening exercises and I never seem to do those. My goal for the next two weeks is to lessen that a little bit so I look somewhat presentable in a bikini when I go on vacation.
In other news I really need to think up some new and better ideas for this blog. I would like to incorporate more photos into this blog but I only update it at work and don’t have the time to upload and input images. Hmm..i need something to liven this up.
So since the middle of January I have started eating healthier and exercising to try to lose some unneccesary weight. I started out at 142.2 lbs and my lowest was 134. Well, I got to 134 the beginning of last week and this past weekend I completely messed up my diet with cake, cookies and chocolate from Easter. Now, I only went up to 136 lbs today, but it is still such a bummer. I exercise 6 days a week for about 20 minutes on my elliptical and I track all my calorie intake on The Daily Plate. Ideally, I would like to be down to 125 but I always screw up on the weekends. It is hard also when my fiancee is not on a diet and doesn’t like eating healthy every night. If any one has any pointers or tips for me so I don’t have to start over my weight loss every Monday because I’m not good on the weekends that would be great. I’m doing better than I thought I would, but we are going to Florida in the middle of April and I really wanted to at least be down to 130 by then.
So Friday I took the day off from work and went wedding dress shopping. My mom was supposed to come and stay this weekend but she told me on Thursday that she didn’t feel good and didn’t want to take the trip down. So, I went with my future mother-in-law and my fiancee’s grandma. We went to two places and I tried on about 5 or 6 dresses. For some reason I liked the bunchey dress look. It is plain at the top and then at the skirt part it has a lot of bunches. It is poofy, which normally is not me, but I really liked it. I’m on the fence about it because it seems too much for my personality. I tried on a dress at a small boutique that had a pretty beaded design at the top and liked that one but I could only get it at the price I wanted while it was in stock. Since I still have over a year before my wedding I didn’t want to feel rushed to get a certain dress. So, right now I’m still thinking and want to try on some more before I decide. But, I’m trying to get moving on this whole wedding thing because I know when summer hits the time is going to fly by!
The radio today was definitely filled with some interesting news, not to mention I had about 40 mins to listen to it on my car ride in to work because we got hit with a lot of ice last night. Anyways, one of the stories was shocking to me regarding Patrick Swayze having pancreatic cancer and only having 5 more weeks to live!
Now, when you Google Patrick Swayze it doesn’t come up with anything regarding this story but I finally found the National Enquirer article on it. I was starting to think it was just a horrible rumor but now I’m actually thinking it might be true. How devastating that is. He is one of my favorite actors, I think I’ve watched Dirty Dancing and Ghost about 50 times a piece. I just pray that he gets better and that he can live a much longer life.
Another interesting news item on the radio today was regarding Airborne. I had just talked about it a few weeks ago and how all my co-workers thought it was a miracle pill that kept someone from becoming sick. Well, now there is a Class Action Lawsuit against it! It was determined that Airborne does not cure or prevent colds or sickness and that there has been false marketing on the creators of it. You can actually file a claim if you have purchased it and want your money back. Of course it will be a long drawn out process and most likely you will need some type of proof of purchase and won’t receive your $6 per item purchased for a year or two, but I guess it doesn’t hurt!
So I was looking at the Sally Beauty Supply website and noticed that some of the Beyond the Zone products are on sale for March and April. I’ve been wanting to get a volumizer or root lift product and saw one on sale for $5. I also have been wanting to get a scruncher to make my hair slightly wavy and not have to spend the time drying and straightening every day and also found one of those. The sale is 2 for $10 and not only does my hairstylist recommend these products (even though she’s not supposed to) but I have the Bored Straight Mousse and I LOVE it. It really tames my flyaways, makes my hair shiny and nice and soft. The only problem I have is that I use this, and then blow dry my hair and straighten it and it looks a little too flat. The product isn’t what does it, but the straightening flattens my volume so I need to find something to lift my hair up a little. Does anyone else use Beyond the Zone Products?
Now, my title is not Receptionist at work but I am the first person in the front people come in contact with. If there is one thing I cannot stress it is Be Nice to the Front Desk Person!
If you are coming in for an interview you need to make a good first impression, and that first impression is what the front desk person sees. You must treat that person just as you would the person you are interviewing with. Whatever occurs between the time you step your foot in the door and the time you see the person you are interviewing, the Front Desk person is observing. He or She will be relaying messages back to the interviewer, whether it be good or bad.
There has been so many times where people have come in to interview and treated me with disrespect and with attitude. You bet I went right back and told the interviewer exactly what was happening and 99.9% of the time if it was bad feedback the interviewee would have just wasted their whole time coming in and interviewing because they do not receive a job.
So, in conclusion, be nice and friendly to the front desk person and have some respect for them. They are the ones that can make or break your interview!
I’m so annoyed at work. I work with someone who does not take me seriously and I know it is because of my age and I hate it. She is very opinionated, loud and pushy and when she gets an idea in her head she wants everyone to jump on it. I hate when she gets her way because then it makes her feel like she will get whatever she wants. She honestly acts like a spoiled brat and mind you she just started here in August. She constantly dumps stuff on me and pretty much expects me to be her personal secretary and I won’t do it.
She has her own line and today she decided she didn’t want it on the main voicemail or on her business card. She whined the first month because she didn’t have one and now that my manager gave up hers she isn’t even using it like she is supposed to. We gave almost everyone direct lines so the main line would not get bogged down with calls and would eliminate a need for a FT receptionist. Now, she pretty much wants me to field all her calls and I don’t have the time, I have much more important stuff to do.
I just wish I would be taken more seriously. She talks to me in this babyish way because I’m younger but my education is much higher than hers and my manners are much better as well. She’s really making me hate my job and everyone except my bosses are seeing that as well. Honestly, if this keeps up and no one does anything about it then I’m going to have to look for a new job because I might just do something I don’t want to do.
I’m done with my rant now.
I work in the recruiting field and though I know most people know about this website I thought I would share it anyways.
TypingTest.com
If you are out looking for a job and your typing accuracy or speed may be a contender in you obtaining that job this website is a great tool to practice with. We actually use this website as one of our tests during the interview process. It gives your gross speed, accuracy and net speed. It is a great tool to either find out how many wpm you can type or to just practice typing to become faster and more accurate. I highly recommend this site and it’s free to use. If you are in a career where typing is very important to your position it is always good to put how many wpm you can type on your resume. Make sure it is accurate though because you don’t want to put 80 wpm on your resume and then the interviewer finds out it is really 50, it can be a real deal breaker.
My fiancee has the flu right now and it is hitting him pretty hard. It seems like everyone is getting sick lately and they just had an article today in our local newspaper talking about how we have hit a really high number of verified flu cases in our region. Now I’m really nervous I will catch it and to see what he has been dealing with, I really don’t want to have to go through the same thing.
These are some ways I’ve been told to avoid getting the Flu:
- Get the Flu Shot (though I must say I’m not a big believer in it. I used to work in a hospital where we had to receive one every year and each time I got the shot I became sick and I tended to still get the flu even if I had the shot.)
- Wash your hands! Constantly wash your hands and use a germ sanitizer.
- Don’t touch your face. The more times you touch an object and your face the easier it is to obtain the flu.
- Take vitamins. Omega-3 pills and Vitamin C are good things to take.
- Eat healthy and exercise so your immune system can combat the flu better. Eat lots of vegetables!
- Get your beauty sleep! Sleep is good to ward of sickness and helps your body rejuvenate.
- Avoid close contact with people and be especially aware when around groups of people. You can never know when people are sick and germs can spread easily.
Everyone at work keeps telling me to take Airborne to make sure I don’t get sick. A couple people swear by it. Apparently it is full of vitamins and you are to take it as soon as you feel like you might get sick. I’m still debating whether or not to buy it but the reviews seem to be very favorable for it.
Feel free to share with me any other ways you know of to avoid the flu, or getting sick in general. These were just some I thought I would share.
